Har Antlanta operationen utanför Somaliakust misslyckad?

Igår beslutade riskdagen att svenska fartyg ska tillåts anlita väpnade vakter för att skydda sig mot pirater. Jag ser det här som att alla investerade pengar att säkra Somalia kust har inte gett resultat. Men Atlanta operationen har andra intressen än att skydda fartygen som passerar utanför Somalias kust.

The visit of the Sudanese Congress Party to Sweden

The visit of the Sudanese Congress Party was mainly to highlight the situation in Sudan which face a total collapse as the result of the internal armed conflict in the country. During a one-week visit to Stockholm more than ten meetings were conducted with Sudanese diaspora, government officials and representatives of civil society organizations in the country. The visit was covered by local media and on Sudanese websites.

Ett barn blev våldtagen till döds

Ett åtta-arig flicka blev våldtagen i Khartoum för ett par dagar sen. Fick veta att hon dog imorse på sjukhuset efter en operation för att ta bort hennes utrus. Det visar bara på hur hemsst situationen är i Sudan. Det här har skett i en stad vad händer i Darfur, ösdra Kordufan och blue Nile?

Long time a way

Lots of thing happend since my last text here. It has been a wonderful time with friends, colleaques, family, relatives and many other people. This is an attempt to come back to this site to communicate with others.

Security companies are laughing all the way to the bank

Security companies are laughing all the way to the bank as they are making money from the so called war on terror. This is what Yvonne Ridley said in a seminar in the Swedish parliament last Thursday. It is the every tax-payer who is paying for the security checks, metal detectors, x-ray scanning machines. According to her we have been cheated by the fact that a terrorist can lock himself in a toilet and make a bomb out of bottles of chemicals and explode an aircraft in the air.
Yvonne Ridley converted to Islam in 2003 since then she has been demonized and treated as a terrorist. A journalist recently called her "madam terror".
Islamophobia is a lucrative business filling the pockets of politicians with money when they step out on TV and other media channels to accuse Muslims of being terrorists. She is currently working in a documentary on Al-Shifa factory which was bombed by the American Navy in 2004 by Clinton just to shift the attention of the world from his business with Monica Lewinsky. It later appears that the factory was a pharmaceutical factory and not factory for producing chemical weapons. But Clinton attacks the factor without any solid evidence of threats to the Americans security. Evidence is no longer needed for war in terror but people were stopped, harassed and jailed on basis of suspicious, unfortunately.
We hope the disease of Islamophobia never comes to our shores in Sweden.

Afrikaniskt Beyblade från barnfantasi och uppfinning

Jag blev väldigt imponerad av Hassan som är 7 år gammal och som många andra barn gillar leksaker. Det är en stor skillnad mellan honom om min son som är 3 år äldre född och bor i Sverige. Barn i Afrika har en otrolig förmåga för fantasi och uppfinningsförmåga för leksaker. På bilden här ser ni hur Hassan har gjort sin egen Beyblade från enkla material (övre delen av en sprayburk, tråd och hård järntråd). För er som har barn i den åldern vet ni hur mycket kostar en Beybalde där ett helt ekonomiskt koncept har byggts upp för att sälja produkter från Beyblade (internetsajter, olika modeller av Beyblade och annat tillbehör som plastarenor skjutbanor och mycket annat (http://www.beyblade.com). Jag som har levt min barndom i Afrika vet hur lyran var viktigt för oss att forma den i små statyer, bygga små hus och anda leksaker. Vi jobbat i fler timmar för at bygga en bil från en plåtburk. Men det var kul. Man bli stolt av det man gör själv. Köp inte med dig några leksaker till barn när du åker till Afrika utan hjälpa de att utveckla sin fantasi och uppfinningsförmåga genom att stödja de gå i skolan.

 

 

Ett kilo kött kostar lika mycket som i Sverige

De höga matpriserna oroar sudaneserna i hela landet. Konsumenternas förening har startat en kampanj för att tvinga köttpriserna till en rimlig nivå genom att upplysa ett tredagarsförbud mot kött. Ett kilo kött kostar lika mycket som i Sverige. Många pratar om vissa företag och personer som ligger bakom de höga priserna för kött. Enligt flera källor beror detta på ökat förfråga av boskap för export till arabländerna. Kött är bara ett exampel med det finns flera varaor som många har inte råd att köpa.

EU speaks out in Sudan

EU speaks out in Sudan
Just few minutes ago a press release regarding “Southern” /Sudan came out from the corridors of EU council in Luxembourg. It has nothing new to offer for easing the tense situation in Darfur, south Kordufan and southern Sudan. This can be attributed to two facts the first one is that EU is not quite sure about whether the government of the North will recognize the new born country or not. Despite the fact the recognition of the North is not important since Southern Sudan came to this point after an agreement (CPA) and democratic referendum with 98% choosing secession. But not recognizing Southern Sudan opens for continued hostilities and the Sudanese are back to war again. The future of UNMIS is still not clear with a decision from the government of Sudan to terminate the existence of the mission with the termination of the CPA.

The second fact is that EU knowledge about the development of the scenarios in Sudan is very limited. The situation in Southern Kordufan is very volatile, the negotiation are going with the Darfurian rebels factions as well as military operations in the region. Southern Sudan itself is suffering from dormant rebel groups waiting for their share of power whether on ethnic or individual basis.

It rather alarming that EU conditions the engagement of the international community by the implementation of the popular consultation in Blue Nile and Southern Kordufan. What has been going on in Darfur for years is more terrible than what has been going on in Southern Kordufan. But it appears that EU is trying to use the carrot method to convince SAF to draw its troops from Abeyi. EU knows quite well that the issue of debt is very central to the future relation between Sudan and the international community. But EU has no any concrete suggestion for how this problem can be solved.

It is also interesting to see that EU condemned blocking of the north-South roads which are quite inevitable to humanitarian access and transport of food to the south.

It is also quite interesting to see how EU will approach the issue of security in Southern Sudan. All of us know that Southern Sudan lacks the basic infrastructure to provide support to its citizens in a region flooded with small arms. According the press release: Council will urgently take forward consideration of ways to provide support to South Sudan's civilian capacity-building requirements in the field of security.
Southern Sudan is now promised access to the markets of EU under "Everything But Arms". This simply says “Nothing except Oil” since we know that southern Sudan production and export is almost nil.

JEM attakerar oljan i Södra Kordufan

Situationen i Södra Kurdofan förvärras dag för dag. Det kommer rapporter via facebook och telefon från Kadugli att det är tusentals personer som är på flykt just nu.

Har också fick veta att en grupp från Justice and Equality (JEM) har attackerat Heglig flygplats. Nedan är de raderna som har kommit genom ett pressmeddelande från (JEM)

June 11th 11: A small military contingent belonging JEM Kordofan branch made a successful attack at Heglieg Airport, Thursday June 9th. The successful attack and brief occupation of the airport were meant to send a clear message to oil companies that use of their airports and other facilities by GoS, its army and militia will not go unpunished by the Movement.

Abeyi is the most possible start point

If the director general of Sida, Ms Gornitzka, during the presentation of the World development report yesterday, refers to the high number of women who participated and voted during the last election in southern Sudan in April 2010 as a result of Sida's contribution to financing the electoral process. And if she also relates this support to increased women participation in decision-making in Sudan, this means that we have concrete results examples for what aid cooperation can achieve. But it is not that simple. That desirable change would not have been reached by only allocating tens of millions Swedish crowns to the Joint Donors Team/Fund in Juba or UNDP in Khartoum to finance the election process. We should not forget what civil society organization have been doing to inform and educate women about their rights to participate in the lasting election and the referendum.



The two examples mentioned by the director general can also be regarded as credit for the government of Sudan. The electoral law of Sudan gave women for first time in history 25% of the parliamentary seats. At the same time the opposition in Sudan regarded the election as illegitimate and boycotted the voting at the last minute before opening of the polls.

Still much more is needed in dealing with the conflict in Sudan not only between the north and the south but also between the center and the west. Much of the aid coming in Sudan does not really goes for peace and confidence building. And that portion of aid expended in basic service delivery has been helping both governments in the north and south to invest in new arms and weapons to be prepared for renewed war. Abeyi is the most possible start point as many expected and according to the reality on the ground.

En helg med Nätverket för Fred på Afrikas Hron (NFPA)

Det var en mycket intensiv helg med kulturaktiviteter, minimarn och en konferens om migration och integration. Dessutom var det en trevlig middag hos en kollega i Norrtälje.

Helgen började med en middag tillsammans med fyra arbetskollegor i Norrtälje. Därefter tog vi en härlig promenad i naturen. Man fick höra ett par sånger av argentinsk tango och veta mer om Nicaragua och Argentina

I lördags var det kulturkvällen med musik från Afrikas Horn. Mycket intressant och trevligt. Jag gillar och lyssnar på Zjansiyum Henock från Etiopien. Han sjunger med stor passion för kärlek och fred.

I söndags var det minimaran för barn klass 3A från Bredängskolan. Min son var ett av de 18 barn som sprang minimaran som jag tillsammans med andra föräldrar har arrangerat för klassen.

Samma dag var det konferensen om migration och integration som Nätverket för Fred på Afrikas Horn (NFPA) har arrangerat i Kista Träff. Det var ett steg i rätt riktningen för att driva frågor som berör denna del av världen. Den politiska panelen var mycket lyckat med deltagande från borgarråd för social demokraterna Karin Wanngård, Mehmet Kaplan (Miljöpartiet), Fredrick Malm (Folkpartiet) och Abir Al-Sahlani (Centren). Vi har Också bjudit in Sverige Demokrater men de hörde aldrig a sig.

Sudaneser till krig i Abeyi?

Nu känns det inte bra. Jag var glad över att våra bröder från Södra Sudan har äntligen fick en egen stat som alla kommer att erkänna förutom en stat: Norra Sudan. De senaste händelserna i Abeyi är ett tycken på misslyckat förhalningar mellan Bashir och Kiir. Nu när bara ett par veckor kvar innan Södra Sudan utropar sig som ny stat så är det fullt möjligt att de både gamla ärkefienderna går till krig igen. I går beslutade parlamentet i Sudan att skydda Abeyi, som en del av norra Sudan, till varje pris.
En sak som också står mig ganska mycket är den naiva medierapportering om att konflikten är mellan Araber och Afrikaner. Nedan är ett exempel:

De sista dagarna i maj

Nu är det sista dagarna i maj och det är många aktiviteter på gång, årsmöten, seminarier, planeringsmöten och dailogsmöten. I fredags var det ett planeringsmöte för Nätverket för Freds på Afrikas Horn inför den kommande seminarium och kulturen kvällen nästa vecka i Kista Träff den 28- 29 maj.

Igår var det årsmöte för Forum Syd på Brygghuset i Odenplan. Det var spännande och mycket intressant diskussion om Forum Syds roller och strategier. Diskussionen kommer att fortsätter på webben på medlemmarnas hemsidan. Sex nya organisationer har blivit nya medlemmar i Forum Syds plattformen.

Idag är det ett erfarenhetsutbyeseminarium i samma lokal. Det är många som har anmält sig och det bruka vara intressant diskussioner och organisationer som vill gärna berättar om vad de gör och vill veta hur andra gör.

Demonstration mot slaveriet och rasism på Mynttorget

Det var ganska många som deltog i demonstrationen mot slaveriet och rasism på Mynttorget i Stockholm idag. Det var en härlig blandning av folk med olika bakgrunder. Pratade med en som heter Daniel som var riktig upprörd över vad som har hänt i Lund och över att han fick veta om demonstrationen av en slump. Men ändå ringde runt till kompisar och vänner och uppmanade de att komma på en gång. Alla talare var strålande och pekade på den växande rasism i Sverige och hur den kommer att påverka samhället negativt.

Demonstreration mot rasism på Mynttroget idag

Jag kommer att vara med och demonstrera mot rasism på mynttroget idag. I tisdags såg jag en ung tjej i tunnelbanan. som delade ett informationsblad om en demonstration. Hon vara tillsammans med en annan kvinna som visade sig var hennes mamma. Samma kväll kom mamman eller Dian som hon heter till vårt nätverksmöte på Forum Syd. Hon pratade med stor entusiasm att alla måste stå emot rasism som nu växter i det svenska samhället. Det handlar inte enbart om svarat och vita men även mot kvinnor, funktionshindrade och folk med en annan tro.
